23 February 2026 – Kanpetlet Township’s Humanitarian and Disaster Management Department has issued a public safety warning following a recent spike in house fires in Paletwa township, Chin State.

The advisory, released on 20 February, comes after authorities recorded three residential fire incidents in under two months, occurring on 24 January, 18 February, and most recently, 20 February.

The latest incident on 20 February is suspected to have been caused by a solar power system. Authorities are now urging all residents to strictly adhere to fire safety measures and prevent future tragedies through vigilance.
