Samaritan’s Purse to help reconstruct landslide-hit Chin State

20 September 2015 — Samaritan’s Purse, an evangelical Christian humanitarian organization, made a donation of 300,000 US dollars towards helping landslide-affected victims in Chin State.

The US-headquartered organization aims to work with the Myanmar Baptist Convention, the Chin Baptist Convention and the Hakha Baptist Association.

It will support victims in Falam, Hakha, Paletwa, Tedim and Tonzang townships in the reconstruction process, according to Chin Christian leaders.

CBC General Secretary Rev. Dennis Ngun Thawng Mang said that representatives of Samaritan’s Purse had come to Chin State to conduct a preliminary survey.

He said that major work on the ground would start only after the delegation reported their findings to the organization’s headquarters.

Established in 1970 by Bob Pierce who had previously founded World Vision, Samaritan’s Purse works in more than 100 countries around the world.#
