23 June 2026 – Fighting has been ongoing in Thantlang town, Chin State, since 10 June between State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troops and Chin resistance forces, including the Chin National Army (CNA), CDF-Thantlang, and other defense units under the Chinland Government, with both sides reportedly suffering casualties.

According to Salai Htet Ni, spokesperson for the CNF/CNA, the clashes began after SSPC military forces reinforced troops and weapons in Thantlang town from nearby Hakha town during the first week of June and launched efforts to gain full control of the town.

“The fighting has continued since 10 June. The SSPC military has been using heavy weapons and drones extensively. There have been casualties on both sides,” Salai Htet Ni said.

He stated that both SSPC military forces and Chinland forces had suffered deaths and injuries, though exact casualty figures remain unconfirmed due to the ongoing nature of the conflict.

The report indicates that Thantlang town remains contested, with both sides maintaining positions in the town. The SSPC military has reportedly reinforced its forces and launched offensives toward areas held by Chinland forces in an attempt to seize full control.

The Thantlang Township Federation (TTF) said Chinland forces recently recaptured the Van Thio area and claimed that SSPC military forces had sustained significant casualties during the fighting. The claim could not be independently verified. – Reporting by Daniel
