4 June 2026 – Local residents say the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military troops stationed in Chuncung village, Hakha township, Chin State have been taking civilian-owned timber and household goods and transporting them toward Hakha town.
According to local sources, SSPC military vehicles began moving from Chuncung village toward Hakha town on 1 June and continued through 2 June.
Residents claim the vehicles were carrying timber belonging to villagers. On the afternoon of 2 June, additional truckloads reportedly brought in three-wheeled motorcycles and other consumer goods.
Chuncung village is described as an area controlled by local defence forces. Residents of Hakha town say the influx of personnel and goods into the town has been accompanied by significantly tightened inspections at checkpoints and entry/exit gates.
Separately, Chinland Defence Force-Hakha (CDF-Hakha) announced that it detained a militia member aligned with the SSPC military on 13 May, accusing him of extorting civilians and participating in home break-ins inside Hakha town.
CDF-Hakha has also urged residents to travel with heightened security awareness because of the current military situation and increased inspections in Hakha township. – Reporting by Daniel
