Military helicopter lands at Gantgaw artillery base for two consecutive days

15 May 2026 – A State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) Mi-17 military transport helicopter landed at Artillery Battalion 371 in Gangaw town, Magway Region, according to local sources.

Initial local reports indicated that the Mi-17 helicopter landed at the artillery base at around 10:00 am today. Another Mi-17 helicopter also landed at the same base at around 11:00 am yesterday. The helicopter landed once each day over two consecutive days.

Local sources said the flights were used to transport additional troops, weapons, and ammunition for Infantry Battalion 50 based in Gangaw.

According to local sources, Major Ye Yan Paing, the second-in-command (2IC) stationed at the General Administration Office in Gangaw, was reportedly flown by helicopter to Pakokku on the morning of 15 May, although the information is still being confirmed.

Residents said SSPC junta forces are increasing military preparations across the Yaw region. Civilians have been urged to remain cautious and stay alert while travelling and carrying out daily activities. – Reporting by Ben
