22 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) has deployed a large-scale military column—estimated at several thousand troops and over 30 vehicles—toward the Yaw area of Magway Region as part of a strategic operation, according to local sources.
The highly coordinated column is moving along the Pauk–Tabayin–Pansan–Kyaukhtu Union Highway, with an apparent objective of reinforcing Artillery Battalion 368 in Kyaukhtu, Saw township.
The advancing forces are drawn from four Light Infantry Divisions (LIDs): LID 101 (Pakokku), LID 99 (Meiktila), LID 88 (Magway), and LID 55 (Kalaw, southern Shan State).
The deployment includes regular soldiers alongside newly recruited conscripts and porters, some of whom reportedly received only short-term training before deployment to the front line. Female personnel were also observed among the troops.
The convoy of at least 35 vehicles is heavily armed, including armored trucks and vehicles mounted with 122mm howitzers. The column is also transporting approximately 35 FPV kamikaze drones and is equipped with RPG launchers and sniper rifles.
Sources report that drone systems are being actively used for aerial reconnaissance and to carry out strikes on potential targets ahead of the column.
This massive deployment in Magway occurs amidst a significant intensification of military operations by the SSPC across the region. Recent updates from neighboring Chin State indicate the SSPC has dramatically increased forced recruitment efforts, particularly in Kalay.
