11 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military forces reopened the Kalay-Taingen main road on the evening of 10 May after successfully regaining control of Taingen village in Tedim township, Chin State.
Despite the reopening of this key route, security remains extremely tight. SSPC personnel have established four permanent checkpoints in and around Taingen village, where comprehensive inspections and security operations are ongoing.
The continued presence of these checkpoints has heightened concerns among residents and travelers, who are proceeding with extreme caution along the road.
The action in Taingen comes amid intense military volatility across Chin State. The SSPC is conducting airstrikes and drone attacks in several townships, including Tedim, and the broader Falam-Kalay area has seen intensified fighting.
This conflict has led to significant civilian displacement in surrounding regions. – Reporting by Daniel
