10 May 2026 – Military forces from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) conducted multiple airstrikes on Mindat town in Chin State on 8 May, reportedly killing a prisoner of war (POW) and targeting rescue workers in a secondary attack.

The assault occurred in two distinct waves. The initial strikes at 7:00 am involved two jet fighters dropping four bombs on former immigration and fire service offices.

Later, at approximately 12:30 pm, aircraft dropped incendiary bombs that ignited several buildings in the eastern ward. Local sources confirmed that one detained SSPC POW was killed and several others were injured during the strikes.

Following the initial bombings, SSPC forces from Artillery Battalion No. 368 used drones to monitor the area for public gatherings.

Approximately three hours after the first wave, civilians and rescue workers responding to the scene were targeted with additional incendiary bombs.

In response, the Chin People’s Union (CPU) issued a warning for residents to avoid large gatherings to mitigate the risk of further casualties.

Mindat has been a key resistance stronghold under the control of the Chinland Defence Force-Mindat (CDF-Mindat) since late 2024. This status has made the town a frequent target of military air operations.

This latest raid follows a similar attack on 11 April 2026, which also killed a POW and destroyed over 20 buildings and multiple vehicles.

The recent strikes are part of a broader pattern of escalation in the region. Between May and August 2025 alone, the SSPC conducted at least 176 airstrikes in Mindat township, resulting in the deaths of over 40 civilians and injuring 120 others. – Reporting by Daniel
