6 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military forces have recaptured strategic positions in Tedim township, Chin State, including the Thangmual camp and Kennedy Mountain, following several days of intense fighting with Chin resistance forces, according to multiple sources.
The Thangmual camp was retaken on 5 May, with troops now stationed at the site. The camp, which lies along a key route toward Tedim town, has changed hands multiple times during the conflict.
It was most recently held by a joint force of People’s Defence Force-Zoland (PDF-Zoland) and Civic Defence Militia-Siyin (CDM-Siyin) after being captured on 4 January 2026.
Kennedy Mountain, located between Kalay and Tedim towns at an elevation of over 8,000 feet, was also recaptured by SSPC military forces on the evening of 5 May. The area saw heavy fighting from 2 May to 5 May, particularly near Taingen village, Thangmual, and Akluai villages.
Sources reported that the SSPC military used sustained airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery support during the clashes, forcing resistance forces to withdraw from the area.
With control of these positions regained, there are growing concerns that the SSPC military may attempt to push further toward Tedim town. – Reporting by Daniel
