4 May 2026 – A military transport helicopter, identified as an Mi-17 and operated by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), landed at an outpost in Hintharwadi village, northern Gangaw township, Magway Region, as part of ongoing reinforcement efforts, according to local sources.
Initial reports from a local news outlet, Yaw Atlinn, indicated that at around 11:51 am, two Mi-17 helicopters landed in Hintharwadi village, transporting a total of 27 Pyusawhtee (SSPC-Pro- militia).
During the first landing, 13 Pyusawhtee members were flown to LIB 228 in Kalay, while a second operation airlifted 14 others to LIB 89.
The reinforcement follows the military’s reported recapture of Falam town in Chin State and is believed to be part of broader preparations, in coordination with pro-military Pyusawhtee groups, to reassert control over the Gangaw–Kalay Union highway.
Sources also reported that additional militia members from villages east of the Myittha River crossed into Hintharwadi and nearby areas on the previous night, indicating a continued buildup of forces.
Observers suggest that the increasing troop movements and militia coordination may signal preparations for a potential offensive in the region. – Reporting by Ben
