13 March 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out multiple airstrikes on Matupi town in Chin State on the morning of 13 March, according to local sources.
Two fighter jets that reportedly took off from Tada-U Air Base conducted three bombing attacks between 8:20 am and 8:30 am, targeting areas near Matupi town.
Later in the morning, at around 9:45 am, another fighter jet dropped a 500-pound bomb on the hill base of Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 304, a former military base in Matupi.
The extent of casualties or damage from the airstrikes has not yet been confirmed.
Residents reported that people rushed into bunkers after hearing the sound of aircraft flying overhead. Smoke was reportedly seen rising from areas near the town following the explosions.
The Myanmar military has recently intensified aerial attacks in Matupi township. Airstrikes were also reported on 11 March, while a military ATR-42 reconnaissance aircraft was seen conducting surveillance flights over the area on 12 March. – Reporting by Ben
