SSPC airstrikes hit Mindat as military evacuates over 40 wounded soldiers

12 June 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out multiple airstrikes in Mindat town, Chin State today.

According to local sources, a fighter jet from Magway Air Base conducted an airstrike on a location in Mindat town at approximately 6:00 am, dropping two bombs believed to be 500-pound munitions before leaving the area.

Several civilian houses were damaged in the attack. However, details regarding the extent of the damage remain unclear, and no casualties had been confirmed at the time of reporting.

According to local sources, four military vehicles departing from Laung Shee joined three vehicles at around 7:30 am that had camped overnight near Taung Bo Gyi village. The combined convoy, consisting of seven vehicles and more than 200 personnel, was observed continuing toward Saw town.

Meanwhile, a Y-8 military transport aircraft landed at Infantry Battalion 368 in Kyaukhtu at around 2:30 pm on 11 June.

According to local sources, the aircraft evacuated more than 40 wounded soldiers and delivered ammunition, food supplies, and other military equipment to the base.

Sources further reported that a similar Y-8 operation took place last month, during which 56 wounded personnel were evacuated, while three military officers and additional troops were transported into the area.

Local sources also claimed that on 1 June, military vehicles from Kyaukhtu were deployed to retrieve more than 40 soldiers and militia members who had been wounded or were suffering from health-related conditions. The convoy also transported more than 10 personnel with minor injuries, as well as 12 others who wished to leave frontline positions in the Mindat area.

Residents additionally stated that military forces stationed near Kyaukhtu have recently been firing 120 mm artillery shells toward parts of Mindat township.
