7 February 2026 —The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) continued its aerial attacks in Chin State, with an A-5 jet fighter from Tada-U Air Base carrying out multiple airstrikes near Mindat town.
Initial reports from local sources indicate that the aircraft began a series of airstrikes at approximately 12:22 pm, targeting areas near two villages in the circle No. 1 area of Mindat town.
The attacks were carried out in five successive runs at 12:22 pm, 12:24 pm, 12:26 pm, 12:28 pm, and 12:30 pm. Residents reported hearing secondary explosions, believed to be linked to cluster munitions.
Later the same day, between 2:00 pm and 2:10 pm, an A-5 bomber jet deployed from Tada-U Air Base carried out four additional airstrikes on a location on the western side of Mindat town.
These attacks followed earlier air operations in the same area. On 2 February 2026, an SSPC jet carried out three bombing runs on a civilian village in the circle No. 1 area at around 2:20 pm, followed by indiscriminate heavy machine-gun fire. A second wave of three airstrikes targeted the area again at approximately 3:44 pm.
An ATR-42 reconnaissance aircraft has also been observed circling the circle No. 1 area, raising concerns about possible further air operations.
The extent of damage and any casualties remain unconfirmed. Residents have been advised to stay alert and follow safety precautions as the situation remains unstable. – Reporting by Ben
