8 February 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) continued its aerial operations in Chin State, with jet fighters deployed from Tada-U Air Base carrying out multiple airstrikes across Mindat, Kanpetlet, and Matupi town areas.
Kanpetlet town, Chin State
Earlier in the morning today, at approximately 9:33 am, a jet fighter reportedly carried out an airstrike on Ward No. 2 in Kanpetlet town, dropping two bombs.
The attack damaged around five residential houses. A two-storey tourism facility consisting of six connected rooms was also damaged, along with several government office buildings. No civilian injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the airstrike.
Mindat town, Chin State
Initial reports from local sources indicate that at approximately 10:01 am, an SSPC jet fighter dropped two bombs on San Pya Ward in Mindat town.
The attack reportedly damaged public market shops, a religious hall, an old community hall, and several civilian homes. As of reporting time, there were no confirmed reports of civilian injuries or fatalities resulting from the airstrike.
Matupi township, Chin State
Later in the day, an SSPC jet fighter reportedly conducted four airstrikes on a Thlangpang-A village near Matupi township, which was subjected to aerial bombardment and gunfire on the afternoon of 8 February.
The first series of attacks occurred at approximately 12:33 pm, followed by additional strikes at around 2:41 pm.
Initial reports from local sources indicate that one child was killed, and at least 12 civilians, including six children, were injured.
All injured children and the deceased child were students. Among the injured civilians was a volunteer teacher providing education to children in the village. Two of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.
The attack also caused significant property damage. A fuel truck was destroyed by fire, while several other homes sustained damage.
The full extent of damage and casualties has not yet been confirmed. Due to the increased frequency of airstrikes in recent days, residents have been urged to remain alert and take all necessary safety precautions as the situation remains unstable. – Reporting by Ben
