9 February 2026 – The Chinland Defence Force-Hakha (CDF-Hakha) has imposed an immediate restriction on public movement and activities within the wilderness areas surrounding Hakha town in Chin State.
The emergency notification, issued on 8 February, took effect today, 9 February, and will remain in force until further notice. CDF-Hakha stated the restriction is necessary due to current security concerns in the area and is intended to safeguard the public.
A Hakha resident commented on the measure, saying, “We, the public, should comply with this kind of announcement. Although we do not know the exact reason for the issuance, it is likely due to concerns for public safety. Since small-scale skirmishes can occur unexpectedly in Hakha town, caution is warranted.”
CDF-Hakha has appealed to all residents within Hakha township to strictly follow the notification and cooperate fully.
The move follows a history of frequent, small-scale clashes between troops from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) and revolutionary forces both inside and on the outskirts of Hakha town. – Daniel Reporting
