08 January 2026 – The Matupi Township People’s Administration Body announced on 4 January  that it will assume responsibility for administrative mechanisms and public affairs in Matupi township, Chin State.

The announcement followed the Matupi Township People’s Assembly, held on 30–31 December 2025, which was attended by more than 100 participants.

Attendees included officials from village, ward, and tract administrative levels; heads of departments operating in the township; leaders of the Matupi Revolutionary Organization (MRO) and Chin Defense Force–Matupi (CDF–Matupi); as well as social and religious leaders.

According to the statement, the assembly discussed, approved, and enacted the Matupi Township Administration Act and the Matupi Township Judiciary Act.

Matupi town has been under the control of local defence forces since late June 2024 after having taken over the military bases of the then State Administration Council, currently the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC).

The Matupi Township People’s Administration Body said it would work in cooperation with local communities and revolutionary forces to implement administrative systems and deliver public services across the township.

It also stated that its work will align with the military and political policies of the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) and the Chin Brotherhood (CB). – Reporting by Ben
