14 October 2025 – The CDF-Hakha Central Council has ordered all schools in areas under its control to close indefinitely after recent airstrikes by the SAC targeted school buildings.

The Central Education Department, which oversees schools in these “liberated areas,” stated that the closure is effective immediately. The SAC, recently renamed the State Security and Peace Commission, has been using jet fighters in aerial bombardments, specifically striking educational facilities.

Yesterday, an SAC airstrike hit a school in Vanha village, Hakha township, resulting in the deaths of two students, aged 7 and 12, and injuring several others.

A similar directive was issued by the Mindat Township People’s Administration on 10 October 2025  in response to SAC aerial bombardments in the township.#
