Between 10:00 am and 10:45 am, an SSPC Y-12 military transport aircraft deliberately dropped around 60 bombs in and around Htilin town, despite no ground fighting being reported in the area.
A local woman told YAW Media that the Y-12 aircraft conducted multiple bombing runs, dropping between 50 and 70 bombs, while Mi-17 helicopters, a Y-12 aircraft, and reconnaissance aircraft were seen circling overhead.
On the previous day, 6 January, at around 9:00 am, a Y-12 aircraft also dropped approximately 75 bombs on the northern part of Kyaukhtu township.
Local sources reported that between 1 and 7 January 2026, the SSPC carried out at least ten airstrikes in Gangaw, Saw, Kyaukhtu, and Htilin townships in the Yaw region without any reported clashes, resulting in damage to civilian homes.
