30 December 2025 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) has deployed aircraft and ground forces in Hakha township following recent attacks on the Myanmar military’s LIB 266 base on Mount Rung on Boxing Day.

A Y12 military aircraft was observed over the Senthang and Zokhua areas, while ground troops have established heightened security checks on civilians in Hakha town.

Local sources report that SSPC security personnel are stationed at various junctions in Hakha town, conducting surprise checks of driving licenses and mobile phones on passers-by.

Community leaders have issued warnings, advising residents in Hakha town and surrounding villages to exercise caution when traveling or going out. Several villages in the township have been alerted to the potential for air attacks by the SSPC.

The escalation in security measures follows the reported arrest of five young men by SSPC soldiers in Hakha on 27 December though no immediate reasons for the detentions were given.

Local defence forces conducted a morning attack on the Mount Rung military base on 26 December, reportedly in an attempt to disrupt the elections scheduled for 28 December.#
