17 November 2025 – A Myanmar military column reportedly set fire to Shwe Pin village in Kyaw township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, on Sunday, destroying nearly the entire settlement.

According to local sources, the junta troops based in Kyaw town entered the village in the afternoon yesterday and deliberately set houses ablaze.

“Almost the whole village was burned to ashes. Only six houses remain intact. Even the village monastery was completely destroyed,” a local source told Yaw Alinn Tan.

Residents said the fire spread rapidly after soldiers ignited multiple locations, leaving villagers with no time to save their belongings. The attack occurred amid ongoing military tensions in the area.

Shwe Pin village is located between Pauk and Kyaw townships, an area that has seen frequent clashes and airstrikes in recent weeks.

Local monitoring groups have reported increased military movements and intensified operations across the Yaw region.

Fighting between junta forces and resistance groups continues in northern Gangaw and southern Kalay townships, where the military has recently escalated air operations.

The burning of Shwe Pin village marks another incident in a growing pattern of village destruction reported across Magway Region.
