18 November 2025 — An airstrike by the Myanmar military hit the hillside of San Myo village in Gangaw township today at approximately 9:30 a.m., sending all residents fleeing for safety.
The aerial assault targeted the eastern hillside of the village, situated along the Myittha River’s eastern bank. The bombs were released by a military aircraft reportedly returning from operations in southern Kalay township.
SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) military operations have seen a recent escalation across northern Gangaw and southern Kalay townships. This intensification has resulted in the abandonment of some entire villages as residents desperately seek refuge from ongoing ground offensives and relentless airstrikes.
According to a local source, the internally displaced villagers are living in constant fear, startled by the sound of any aircraft overhead.
The source further highlighted a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis, noting the urgent need for medical supplies, food, clothing, and blankets for those who have fled. – Reporting by Benjamin
