About 100 people infected with AIDS in Chin State

02 December 2015 — About one hundred people including ten children are living with AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) in Chin State, the State Health Department said.

Dr Mang Biak Kung, team leader of the Sexually Transmitted Disease at the State Health Department in Hakha, said that the number was according to their statistics, adding: “There will be other patients and cases that we have not been able to record.”

He added that more than 50 percent of the patients got access to necessary treatment and medicines and that they also provided services for them.

In an event held to mark World AIDS Day yesterday, State Minister Van Thawng gave a speech on behalf of Chief Minister Hung Ngai, highlighting the need for preventing the spread of HIV infection and for putting an end to discriminating those infected.#
