Rihkhuadar explosion injures three women

26 November 2015 — Just two days after a powerful blast hit Hakha, another explosion took place in Rihkhuadar, Falam Township, Chin State around 6am on Tuesday, injuring three women.

The incident happened close to a bus station in Tio, Rihkhuadar No. 2 Ward, while the women were working near a fire in the morning.

Naing Naing, a restauranteur, said in the Hakha Post that one of the wasted cardboard boxes being burned exploded and that the women had been injured in their legs.

She also said that one of the injured had been taken to hospital in Kalay, Sagaing Region.

“The noise was very loud. It is believed that those engaged in illegal trading might have abandoned or forgotten the box containing an explosive or explosives in a rubbish heap,” she added.

The police have launched an investigation into the Indo-Burma bordertown incident but have not known the cause yet.

According to the locals today, business and travelling across the border between the two countries are normal.

Last month, an explosion was reported at the Liaison Office of the Chin National Front in Tedim town.#
