Hakha-based artists, media to hold fundraising concert

26 September 2015 — Chin singers, musicians and media based in Hakha, Chin State are jointly organizing a concert to raise fund for victims of the natural disaster in the capital tonight.

The event organizing leaders said that all the proceeds would go towards helping the victims taking temporary shelter at Hakha camps.

They said that it would not be easy to raise fund from the concert and that it was more about increasing public awareness of the situation and showing their concern for them.

Concert tickets are sold at different prices ranging from 1,000 kyats to 20,000 kyats.

“We haven’t been able to do anything as a team for the victims. This will be to let them know that we stand together with and for them at this difficult time,” said P. Thawngbawi, a Hakha-based singer-cum-composer.

More than ten singers are performing in tonight’s event at the Carson Hall.

According to the statistics by the State government as of 21 September 2015, there are 4,496 victims of 970 families at six different temporary camps in Hakha.#
