Chin Christian college student mugged in Delhi

20 September 2013: A Chin Christian college student, 19, lost 16,500 Rupees after being mugged near Vaishali Metro Station in Delhi by a group of five men, believed to be local Indians, last Tuesday.

The student, who asks not to be named, reported to the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO) that he was stopped and threatened with a sharp knife while walking toward a bus terminal around 2pm.

“They told me to open my bag, took all the money my elder sister in Malaysia sent for my college fees, and ran away,” said the victim.

He said he didn’t dare to make any attempts to resist or run as he was frightened and he hadn’t recovered from his knee injury.

The incident took place on the street when he was on his way back to college from Delhi where he had taken sick leave to get his injured knee treated.

He is studying at a Christian college in Uttarakhand State in the northern part of India.#
