Father of Two Killed by Explosive Device in Kalay Myo

05 August 2011: An explosive device, reportedly used for catching fish, went off near 9-Mile of Kalay Myo in Sagaing Division today, killing a Chin resident identified as Mr. Lian Za Thang.

A father of two, Mr. Lian Za Thang, from Vomkua village in Thantlang Township, Chin State, died instantly after the device suddenly exploded while he was working on it in his house, according to a local from Tahan, Kalay Myo.

William Za Hum Thang, who went to the scene minutes after the explosion, said in the YCCF-International email group that the house was blown open and that Mr. Lian Za Thang fell onto the ground with his stomach torn apart.

The victim, son of Rev. Thang Ci Mang, and his family live in a rented house in 9-Mile near Kalay University at the mountain foot of Chin State.
