25 June 2026 — Gangaw District Battalion 6 of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) has issued an emergency security warning, urging civilians to avoid several roads and stay away from areas near State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military bases due to ongoing security risks.
In a statement released on 24 June, the battalion advised residents not to travel on the following routes beginning 25 June:
- Thikone–Laung Shey Road
- Pein Chaung–Laung Shey Road
- Inbu–Laung Shey Road
The group also urged civilians not to reside in buildings located near SSPC military bases or remain in close proximity to military personnel.
According to the statement, the warning was issued to protect civilians amid heightened security concerns and the possibility of military operations in the area.
“The objective of the revolution is to target military objectives, not civilians,” the battalion said, while calling on local communities to follow safety guidance and cooperate in reducing risks to civilian lives.
The statement comes as military tensions and armed clashes continue in southern parts of Chin State and neighboring areas of Magway Region. Resistance groups have increasingly issued public safety advisories as military activities intensify across the region.
The battalion did not specify how long the travel restrictions would remain in effect or provide further details regarding the security threats along the affected routes. – Reporting by Ben
