25 June 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military carried out a series of airstrikes on areas near Mindat and Kanpetlet townships in southern Chin State on Thursday.
Local sources reported that two fighter jets from Tada-U Air Base conducted two airstrikes at approximately 5:47 pm and 5:55 pm, dropping a total of four bombs on a location east of Mindat.
Later, a Y-12 bomber aircraft from Tada-U Air Base carried out 14 bombing runs over the same area between 6:30 pm and 7:20 pm.
Local sources also reported that the aircraft dropped bombs in clusters of three and four, releasing more than 50 bombs in total.
In total, SSPC aircraft conducted 16 airstrikes/bombing runs and dropped more than 54 bombs on areas east of Mindat township.
Additionally, two jet fighters from Tada-U Air Base carried out an airstrike on a location in Mindat town at around 1:33 pm, 1:38 pm, 1:43 pm, and 1:49 pm, despite heavy rainfall.
According to local sources, the aircraft dropped a total of 10 bombs in four separate bombing runs (two bombs in one strike and eight bombs in three additional strikes).
At approximately 6:59 am, 7:05 am, and 7:11 am, two fighter jets from Tada-U Air Base conducted three airstrikes on a location east of Mindat township, dropping a total of six bombs.
A Y-12 bomber aircraft also joined the operation, carrying out seven bombing runs from around 7:30 am and dropping more than 20 bombs on the same area.
Meanwhile, at approximately 7:20 am, a fighter jet from Aela Air Base in Naypyidaw launched an airstrike on a location east of Kanpetlet township.
Local sources said a Y-12 bomber aircraft subsequently carried out around eight additional bombing runs in the surrounding area, intensifying the aerial assault.
No casualties or damage had been confirmed at the time of reporting, and local sources said assessments were ongoing.
The latest attacks come amid intensified military operations in southern Chin State, where Mindat and Kanpetlet townships have experienced frequent airstrikes and ongoing clashes between Myanmar military forces and Chin resistance groups in recent weeks. – Reporting by Ben
