SSPC conducts multiple airstrikes on Mindat and Kanpetlet areas

21 June 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military conducted multiple rounds of airstrikes targeting areas near Mindat and Kanpetlet in Chin State over 20–21 June, according to local sources.

The latest attacks were reported between 11:13 pm and 11:55 pm when a Y-12 bomber aircraft from Tada-U Air Base carried out airstrikes on locations near Mindat township. 

According to initial reports, the aircraft dropped bombs in single, double, and four-bomb salvos, conducting nine bombing runs and dropping more than 20 bombs in total.

At approximately 8:35 pm and 8:40 pm, a jet fighter aircraft from Tada-U Air Base carried out two airstrikes on a location east of Kanpetlet. According to local reports, the aircraft dropped four bombs in total during the two attacks. 

Additional attacks took place between 6:20 pm and 6:48 pm, when a Y-12 bomber aircraft from Tada-U Air Base carried out five bombing runs on a location east of Mindat town. 

The aircraft dropped a total of 15 bombs, releasing three bombs during each sortie.

The same aircraft was also reported to have conducted six airstrikes near Kanpetlet town at around 5:00 pm on the same day.

Earlier on 21 June, between 11:46 am and 12:54 pm, another Y-12 bomber aircraft from Tada-U Air Base launched a series of attacks near Mindat.

Local sources said the aircraft carried out 17 bombing runs, dropping combinations of two, three, four, and five bombs per strike. More than 60 bombs were reportedly dropped during the operation, which lasted for approximately one hour.

The airstrikes followed overnight attacks carried out between 11:29 pm on 20 June and 12:04 am on 21 June. 

According to local reports, four jet fighter aircraft—two from Tada-U Air Base and two from Naypyidaw’s Aela Air Base—conducted eight bombing runs targeting areas around Mindat. 

The aircraft dropped 16 high-explosive bombs, with two bombs released during each strike.

On 20 June, a Y-12 bomber aircraft from Tada-U Air Base carried out additional attacks between 8:42 pm and 9:20 pm, targeting a location east of Mindat. The aircraft conducted 15 bombing runs, dropping a total of 30 bombs.

Earlier that day, at approximately 3:25 pm, a jet fighter from Shan Te Air Base and another from Tada-U Air Base bombed a location east of Mindat. 

In a separate attack between 4:08 pm and 4:20 pm, a Y-12 bomber aircraft from Magway Air Base carried out five bombing runs, dropping 15 bombs in total.

Local sources reported that the strikes targeted locations on the eastern side of Mindat town and surrounding areas. Reports also indicated that a Y-12 bomber aircraft was observed approaching the area from the west on the evening of 20 June.

No casualty figures were immediately available from the reported attacks. – Reporting by Ben
