4 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) airstrike in Saw township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, on the afternoon of 4 May, raised concerns over civilian safety, according to local sources.
A local media outlet, Yaw Alinn Tan, reported that a jet fighter, reportedly based in Taungoo, carried out an attack on a village in the township at around 3:45 pm, dropping two 250-pound bombs.
Details regarding casualties and damage were not immediately available and remain under verification.
Earlier in the day, at around 11:00 am, a surveillance drone was observed hovering over areas near Kan Gyi village and surrounding forested areas, conducting aerial reconnaissance.
Sources noted that such drone activity is often followed by airstrikes, heightening concern among residents.
Residents across Saw township have been urged to remain vigilant, closely monitor the situation, and take precautionary measures, including relocating to safer areas where possible.
