3 May 2026 – The Myanmar military junta, officially the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), conducted intensive aerial attacks on the border between Falam and Hakha townships in Chin State today.
Local sources confirmed that the multiple raids, which began early this morning, included one run that dropped more than 40 bombs across the area.
The assaults began at approximately 6:44 am when two jet fighters from Tada-U Air Base reached the Falam-Hakha border area and carried out four consecutive airstrikes within nine minutes.
Additional aircraft, including another jet fighter, conducted further bombing runs, targeting locations along the border and within Falam township.
The attacks continued into midday, when a Y-12 military transport aircraft dropped over 40 bombs around 12:14 pm. The full extent of the damage, including the destruction of residential properties and any potential civilian casualties, remains under investigation.
The intensive airstrikes underscore the escalating violence carried out by the SSPC military junta against civilian populations and local armed groups across Chin State.
Recent reports from the region indicate heavy fighting and significant civilian impact, including a massive exodus of half the population from Tedim town due to fears of an imminent offensive.
Other recent junta attacks have included an airstrike in Khawpuichhip village that killed five civilians, including a child, and air/drone strikes in Kyindwe that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl.
Meanwhile, the Chin National Front (CNF) recently rejected a peace invitation from junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, citing a profound lack of trust. – Reporting by Daniel
