13 March 2026 – Members of the Zomi Revolutionary Army–Eastern Command (ZRA-EC) based near Mualtuk Hill in Tedim, Chin State, have reportedly stopped wearing their own uniforms and begun using the combat attire of soldiers from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), according to local sources.
Reliable sources said around 15 ZRA-EC members operating alongside SSPC troops in Tedim township have removed uniforms bearing ZRA insignia and are now wearing uniforms similar to those used by SSPC soldiers.
The group is reportedly stationed together with SSPC troops at a camp on Mualtuk Hill, a strategic location overlooking parts of the township.
A resident familiar with the situation said the change has made it difficult to distinguish between the two forces. “ZRA members in Tedim have been collaborating with the SSPC military for some time. Now that they are wearing the same uniforms, it is hard to tell who belongs to which group,” the resident told local media.
The development follows a meeting held on 5 March in Tedim town between representatives of the Zomi Revolutionary Army – Eastern Command and officials from the State Security and Peace Commission.
According to sources, the discussion included possible cooperation on arms supply and joint military activities in the area.
Observers say the use of identical uniforms may create confusion during clashes and could complicate efforts by local communities and resistance groups to identify combatants.
Since the military takeover in Myanmar following the 2021 Myanmar military coup, the SSPC has increasingly relied on allied militias and local armed groups in various regions, including parts of Chin State, to reinforce its military presence and territorial control.
Local residents in Tedim say the situation has raised concerns about further escalation and the potential impact on civilians living near military positions in the township. – Reporting by Daniel
