13 February 2026 – More than 100 State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troops arrived in Taingen village, Tedim township, Chin State, as reinforcements from Kalay town, Sagaing Region.
The deployment was confirmed by Greenland Gideon, Chief of Staff for the People’s Defence Force-Zoland (PDF-Zoland).
The SSPC controls the vital Kalay-Taingen Road, the main access route into northern Chin State, and maintains garrisons in Hiangzing, Mualpi, and Taingen villages.
The deployment follows heavy SSPC casualties in nearby Falam township. Mr. Gideon issued a public warning, urging people to “exercise extreme caution when traveling” due to the high potential for intensified fighting.
This latest reinforcement comes after a separate SSPC column, approximately 300 troops strong, faced heavy resistance. That column, dispatched from Kalay on 20 January and intended for Falam town, was intercepted by Chin local defence groups near Pine camp on 8 February.
The SSPC suffered significant losses and retreated, reportedly stalling near Valung village. During their retreat in Falam township, the troops are alleged to have burned civilian homes and a church in Farso village.
Chin defence groups are continuing to successfully block and inflict heavy losses on SSPC forces attempting to advance toward Falam town.
Local sources suggest the troops currently positioned on the Kalay-Taingen Road may ultimately be headed for Falam.
Military sources indicate the SSPC is deploying thousands of troops, backed by air support and drones, in an effort to retake Falam town but is reportedly sustaining heavy casualties from the joint Chin resistance forces. – Reporting by Daniel
