SSPC raids villages, carries out repeated airstrikes in Pauk township

23 December 2025 —The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) has escalated its operations in Pauk township, Magway Region, carrying out village raids, house burnings, and repeated airstrikes.

Residents said military columns entered villages in the township and set homes on fire while air attacks continued in areas near the Tha bye Nyo oil field, according to Zalen news.

At around 11:00 am on 22 December, SSPC reportedly conducted two airstrikes using three gyrocopters in the northeastern part of Pauk township, near the border with Myaing township.

The same area was also attacked on 21 December at around 4:00 pm by three gyrocopters. Earlier that day, at around midnight, a jet fighter reportedly carried out another airstrike. 

Similar attacks were reported on 18 December, when three gyrocopters conducted two airstrikes on the oil field area.

Local sources said a Mi-17 military helicopter later landed at the KaPaSa-24 (officially known as Directorate of Defence Industries Factory No. 24) military base, after which artillery fire was launched toward villages to the northeast.

A military SSPC column of around 200 troops from KaPaSa-24 (officially known as Directorate of Defence Industries Factory No. 24) reportedly detained civilians in Ohn Hmin village on 20 December. 

Separately, another SSPC column of about 100 troops that burned Sa Thein and Gae Pin Inn villages on 16 December was reported to be advancing toward Nyaung Yin village on 22 December.Residents said the security situation in Pauk township remains tense as military operations continue. – Reporting by Ben
