20 October 2025 – Myanmar’s military junta (SAC) has escalated its military activities in Kalay town, Sagaing Region, with troops targeting areas in both Sagaing and Magway Regions.

Military convoys have also been observed moving towards Chin State, signaling a potential expansion of operations.

This morning, SAC troops reportedly attacked Yesagyo, burning homes and forcing residents to flee. Locals witnessed smoke rising from the village.

Over the weekend, clashes in Hmandaw village between SAC soldiers and the Chinland Defence Forces-Kalay Kabaw Gangaw (CDF-KKG) resulted in the deaths of four CDF members and the recapture of the village by the SAC.

SAC troops also deployed drones and other heavy weaponry in their attacks.

Local defense groups in Sagaing Region have advised villagers to avoid main roads like Kalay-Tamu, Kalay-Khampat, and Kalay-Gangaw due to increased SAC troop movements and the risk of further clashes.

Residents in Khampat are reportedly fleeing their homes in anticipation of heavy fighting.

Last Friday, at least five military trucks reinforced Kalay University, where over 200 soldiers are now stationed.

Myanmar’s military junta has recently increased its troop deployment in Kalay town, particularly after announcing upcoming elections.#
