8 COVID-19 patients being isolated in Chin State

10 November 2020 – Eight individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 are being taken care of in separate facilities in five townships, Chin State, according the Chin State Health Department yesterday.

The updated data of the department shows that there are currently 2 patients in Mindat, 2 in Tedim, 2 in Tonzang, 1 in Hakha and 1 in Rihkhuadar, Falam Township, with the last case confirmed in Tedim on 9 November.

The department said that there had been 7,503 swab tests taken in Chin State between 23 March and 8 November 2020, with 70 positive cases so far.

Swab tests were taken from both internal travellers and migrants, and returning migrants from international destinations including India.

Meanwhile, restrictions on movement are still in place in Paletwa Township sharing an internal border with Rakhine State and international borders with India and Bangladesh due to COVID-19 outbreak in the neighbouring State and ongoing conflicts between Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army. – Reporting by Thawng Zel Thang
