Chin female boxer awarded first prize in Nay Pyi Taw

18 September 2013: Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin, originally from Falam Township of Chin State, won the first prize in a women’s national boxing championship held in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Chin female beat Ma Aye Myat Lwin in the final of friendlies in which boxers from other Southeast Asian countries also participated ahead of the 27th SEA Games.

Mai Nelly said in the Chin World Media she was happy that she received the first prize and requested fans to pray for her to win in the upcoming SEA Games.

In an award-presenting ceremony organized in the new capital of Burma yesterday, she collected her trophy with a total of 200,000 Kyats in cash.

As a member of six selected female boxers representing Burma, Mai Nelly had recently been to China for a month-long training in preparation for the 27th SEA Games to be hosted by Burma.

The Burma Boxing Federation had selected 18 male and 15 female boxers to present the country in the Nay Pyi Taw friendlies that took place from 14 to 17 September.

Last year, Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin won the first prize of the 54-kg women’s boxing championship in Rangoon. #
