25 June 2025 – A Chin married couple from Pyi Taw Thar village in Kalay township, Sagaing Region, was reportedly captured and killed by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military troops while fleeing to Tamu town on 20 June, according to local sources and Chin media reports.

The victims were identified as Mr. Khual Sing Maung and Mrs. Zam Ngai Nang. They were traveling to Tamu town to escape fighting in the area when they reportedly encountered a SSPC military column, were detained, and later killed.

Although the recovery of the bodies by a religious group was reported, independent verification of this claim has not been possible.

The incident comes amid ongoing SSPC military operations along the Kalay-Khampat-Tamu Road on the India-Myanmar border, which have displaced residents from more than 50 villages. Further details about the case remain unclear. – Reporting by Daniel
