10 June 2026 – The Mindat Township People’s Administration Team (PAT) has called for increased public support to sustain the ongoing defence of Mindat and Kanpalet townships amid a large-scale military offensive in southern Chin State.
In the statement issued on 9 June, the administration stated that Mindat township has come under sustained attacks by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), including frequent airstrikes, drone operations, and ground offensives.
The statement described the township as suffering extensive damage and hardship as fighting continues across the region.
The administration stated Chin resistance fighters remain on the frontlines defending their homeland despite mounting challenges and urgently require assistance from supporters and communities both inside and outside Chin State.
According to the statement, SSPC forces have launched a major offensive into southern parts of Chin State through the Magway and Yaw regions, reportedly deploying more than 2,000 troops backed by extensive air and drone support.
The administration urged the public to contribute resources and assistance to help sustain resistance efforts.
Local sources reported that military airstrikes have been carried out almost daily against Mindat township and other areas in neighboring townships of Chin State, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread damage to homes and civilian infrastructure.
Resistance groups in Kanpetlet township have also appealed for public contributions to emergency defence and humanitarian funds as fighting continues across southern parts of Chin State.
Since mid-May, intense clashes have been reported daily between SSPC forces and Chin resistance groups. Despite the scale of the offensive, resistance forces have continued to hold defensive positions and slow the military advance.
The administration warned that thousands of civilians displaced by the conflict, including children and elderly people, are facing urgent humanitarian needs as restrictions on transportation and supplies continue to affect communities. – Reporting by Ben
