25 May 2026 –The Chin people’s Union/Chin people’s Army (CPU/CPA) has appealed for public financial support to help resistance operations defending towns in southern parts of Chin State and the Yaw region along the Chin–Magway border against ongoing military offensives.
According to CPU/CPA spokesperson Mr. Yaw Mang, intense fighting between allied resistance forces, including the Chinland Defence Force (CDF), and junta troops has continued for nearly 10 days across southern parts of Chin State, the Yaw region, and the Pontaung-Ponnya areas.
He stated that continuous junta airstrikes on civilian and military targets in towns controlled by the CPU, including Mindat, Matupi, and Kanpetlet, reflected the intensity of the ground battles.
He said resistance forces had so far prevented more than 1,000 junta troops from advancing further. However, the military was reportedly preparing to deploy another 1,000 reinforcements, raising concerns that the fighting could become longer and more severe.
CPU/CPA representatives estimated that the current military operations in southern parts of Chin State and the Chin–Magway border areas could cost tens of millions of kyats.
Donations received from people inside and outside the country would be used to support urgent frontline needs, including medical treatment and supplies for injured resistance fighters.
The organization said donations would mainly be accepted through NUG Pay and SDB, and contributors could contact responsible officials for further information.
Donors requesting certificates of recognition would also receive them. CPU/CPA added that donation management and frontline support activities would be publicly reported to ensure transparency.
The group also expressed confidence that the military offensives targeting southern parts of Chin State could be resisted effectively if resistance forces and supporters inside and outside the country continued to
The SSPC military has reportedly mobilised thousands of troops and used extensive air support, including drones, while advancing from Saw and Kyaukhtu in Magway Region toward Kanpetlet and Mindat areas.
In recent days, SSPC airstrikes in southern parts of Chin State killed two civilians, including a four-day-old newborn baby, in Kanpetlet, Mindat, and Matupi towns. Many homes, shops, and government buildings were also damaged or destroyed. – Reporting by Ben
