25 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military junta announced today that it airlifted reconstruction materials and humanitarian supplies to Falam, Tedim, and Tonzang towns in Chin State a day earlier.

This effort follows recent, intense military operations and population displacement in the area.

The May 24 shipment totaled over 23 tons of supplies, including 10 tons of cement, 10 tons of roofing sheets, over 443 pounds of roofing nails, and more than 3 tons of relief goods intended for returning residents.

Construction materials were dispatched from Mandalay, while household items, kitchen supplies, and personal hygiene products came from Naypyidaw.

The aid is earmarked for rebuilding government offices and civilian infrastructure that were damaged or disrupted during the armed conflict.

SSPC authorities stated that distribution will continue as reconstruction accelerates.

The airlift comes after the junta’s successful offensive to recapture key locations from Chin resistance forces. Falam town, previously controlled by resistance fighters, was retaken on 25 April 2026. Tonzang town was recaptured on 19 May, following a major offensive carried out by the SSPC military and its ally, the Zomi Revolutionary Army.

While Tedim town remained under SSPC control throughout the fighting, many residents had fled due to fears of combat and are now reportedly returning.

Reports indicate approximately 500 internally displaced persons and residents have returned to Falam. The conflict in these areas has been marked by heavy bombardments and widespread destruction of civilian homes. – Reporting by Daniel
