25 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out a midnight airstrike near Mindat town in Chin State, according to local residents.
According to a local source, a jet fighter from Naypyidaw’s Aela Air Base launched the attack with two bombs, targeting an area south of Mindat town at around 12:00 am.
Residents said they have not yet been able to confirm casualties or damage due to communication disruptions in the area, and investigations are ongoing.
The latest attack comes amid intensified junta military operations in southern parts of Chin State. According to a statement released on 24 May by the Chin People’s Union (CPU), the SSPC military has been reinforcing ground offensives while increasing the use of airstrikes against resistance-controlled towns, including Mindat, Kanpetlet, and Matupi.
The CPU stated that between 11 and 22 May, junta forces carried out at least 25 jet fighter airstrikes across southern Chin State, including multiple attacks on Mindat town. – Reporting by Ben
