1 May 2026 – An airstrike conducted by Myanmar’s military junta forces, officially known as the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), killed at least four to five civilians, including a child, and injured many others in Khawpuichhip village, Falam township, Chin State.
The village is located near the India-Myanmar border.
The attack occurred in the afternoon, around 3:00 to 3:10 pm, when a jet fighter—reportedly departing from Tada-U Air Base—dropped bombs, striking areas near residential zones and a football field.
Local residents reported significant civilian casualties and damage to homes.
Local sources reported that there were no active clashes or resistance forces present in Khawpuichhip village at the time of the strike. This raises serious concerns about the deliberate targeting of civilians. The incident occurred in a region already facing escalating violence.
The strike follows a similar aerial attack on 30 April in Tedim township, highlighting a clear pattern of increased aerial attacks across the region.
Khawpuichhip is situated approximately 20 miles from the border town of Rihkhawdar along the Falam-Rih Road. – Reporting by Daniel
