29 April 2026 – In a significant escalation of aerial warfare in western Myanmar, the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) launched a series of midnight airstrikes near Khuanglung village on 28 April 2026.

Local sources confirmed that a jet fighter carried out three separate bombing runs starting around 11:20 pm, causing panic among inhabitants during the unexpected nocturnal operation.

The aircraft reportedly originated from the Tada-U Air Base in the Mandalay Region. This incident follows a pattern of intensified military activity by the SSPC across Chin State.

According to recent reports, the region has seen a surge in heavy aerial bombardments, including the documented use of banned cluster munitions in Falam township and extensive strikes in neighboring Paletwa.

On 25 April, the SSPC recaptured Falam town and the nearby Surbung Airport

While investigations into casualties and property damage are ongoing, the strikes underscore the volatile security situation. The SSPC has faced mounting resistance from local forces, including drone-based counter-offensives that have reportedly resulted in significant junta personnel losses near strategic infrastructure like the Var bridge.

Despite the violence, local administrative bodies continue efforts to establish independent governance structures amidst the conflict. – Reporting by Ben
