21 April 2026 – Myanmar singer David Lai has shared an update on the distribution of medical assistance to injured individuals from Chin State receiving treatment in Aizawl, India.

In a recent social media post, Lai said the aid—amounting to 629,000 Indian rupees (approximately 28.3 million kyats)—was raised through proceeds from the Kimchi Land Music Concert, a Korean cultural event.

The funds were subsequently used to provide direct support to wounded individuals who had crossed the Myanmar–India border for medical care.

According to the update, the assistance was personally delivered to several safe houses in Aizawl, where many displaced and injured Chin patients are currently staying.

The distribution was carried out informally, without involvement from larger organizations, allowing aid to reach recipients directly and without administrative barriers.

The initiative reflects ongoing grassroots efforts by members of the Chin diaspora and supporters to assist those affected by conflict in western Myanmar.

In the past, Lai was known for his active role in raising awareness and fund for supporting conflict-affected communities in Chin State.

Since the 2021 military coup, Chin State has seen widespread fighting between resistance groups and Myanmar’s military, leading to civilian casualties and a steady flow of displaced people seeking refuge in India’s northeastern states, particularly Mizoram.

Local communities and civil society networks in Mizoram have played a key role in providing shelter, medical access, and humanitarian support to those fleeing violence, often in the absence of formal cross-border aid mechanisms.

Lai expressed appreciation to individuals who supported the effort, including contributors involved in fundraising and logistics during the distribution process. The update highlights the continued reliance on community-driven assistance to address urgent medical and humanitarian needs among displaced populations from Chin State. – Reporting by Ben
