8 April 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military conducted an airstrike with two jet fighters on the western side of Falam town, Chin State, around 1:00 pm today.

The aerial bombardment reportedly caused damage to several houses in the civilian area, though the extent of destruction and the number of civilian casualties remains unconfirmed at this time.

The attack was confirmed by an official from the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF), a local resistance group, who noted that a Y-12 surveillance aircraft continues to circle the Falam area, apparently conducting reconnaissance on civilian locations and resistance force positions.

Local residents corroborated the accounts, reporting sightings of the two jets and explosions west of town.

This latest airstrike comes amid reports that the SSPC is escalating its air and artillery attacks, including the use of drones, against areas controlled by revolutionary forces near Falam. This increased use of airpower is reportedly in response to heavy casualties the SSPC has sustained in recent ground engagements with local resistance groups.

The SSPC, which is the military’s administrative body in the region, has been engaged in heavy conflict with various local defence groups across Chin State and other parts of the country since the February 2021 coup.

Chin State, a mountainous region bordering India, has been a significant hotspot in the conflict, with resistance groups frequently challenging military control over key towns and transport routes. – Reporting by Daniel
