31 March 2026 — An airstrike by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) hit the eastern ward of Mindat town in southern Chin State, according to local reports.
Initial local news from Ĥkl Mindat reports stated that the attack happened at around 12:00 noon, a jet from Tada-U air base dropped two 500-pound bombs simultaneously on the ward.
The attack injured one civilian who was inside a building at the time. The injury was reported as non-life-threatening. A former rural office building and several nearby structures were also damaged.
The airstrike followed a recent change in military leadership. On 30 March, General Ye Win Oo replaced Senior General Min Aung Hlaing as Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
This incident marked the first airstrike on Mindat town since the leadership change.
Mindat township is currently under the control of Chin resistance forces, and no active fighting was reported at the time of the airstrike. – Reporting by Ben
