27 March 2026 – A man accused of stealing 7 million kyats (approximately US$3,300 at current informal exchange rates) from a resident in Matupi township has been arrested by the Chinland Defense Force-Paletwa (CDF-Paletwa) Battalion 4.
According to reports from local media outlet Khumiland News, the suspect, identified as Mr. Bawi, a resident of Vang Kai village in Matupi township, allegedly stole the cash from a local in Welu village, Matupi township. He then fled toward Paletwa township in an attempt to evade capture.
The theft was reported to CDF-Matupi authorities, who launched an initial search but failed to locate the suspect. Subsequent intelligence indicated he had crossed into Paletwa township. Acting on this information, CDF-Paletwa Battalion 4 conducted a targeted operation and arrested him on 25 March 2026 at around 2:00 pm in Mee Huu village, Paletwa township.
The suspect is now in custody, and legal proceedings are being initiated against him in accordance with the laws enforced by the local resistance administration.
