22 March 2026 — Myanmar’s military, operating under the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), carried out a series of airstrikes along the border between Mindat township, Chin State and Htilin township, Magway Region on Sunday.
Initial reports from local media in Mindat indicate that the strikes occurred around midday, targeting areas near the Mindat–Htilin boundary. Two jet fighters, believed to have been deployed from the Magway Air Base, reportedly conducted at least three aerial attacks.
Witnesses said the aircraft dropped bombs and fired rockets during the attacks. The extent of damage and possible casualties remains unclear, as independent verification is still limited due to restricted access and ongoing security concerns.
The Mindat–Htilin border area has seen repeated clashes in recent years between military forces and resistance groups, making it a frequent target of aerial operations.
Airstrikes have increasingly been used by the military across parts of Chin State and the wider Magway Region, often raising concerns among humanitarian groups over civilian safety and displacement. – Reporting by Ben
