SSPC airstrikes hit Htauk Kan village in Pauk township

10 February 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out airstrikes on Htauk Kan village in southern Pauk township, Magway Region, using four fighter jets today.

Initial reports from local sources, including Mandalay Free Press (MFP), indicate that the attack began at around 10:00 am. The aircraft conducted approximately 10 bombing runs, dropping munitions, including 500-pound bombs, on residential areas of the village.

The airstrikes destroyed homes and caused civilian casualties. Preliminary information suggests that around 10 civilians were killed and many others were injured, though these figures remain unconfirmed at the time of reporting.

The fighter jets took off from Magway Air Base and repeatedly bombed the village. Later information confirmed that four aircraft were involved in the attack.

Htauk Kan village has more than 500 households. There were no clashes or fighting in the area at the time of the airstrikes, and the village was bombed without any ground conflict.

The incident forms part of a broader pattern of indiscriminate airstrikes in Magway Region. On 9 February 2026, SSPC fighter jets also carried out two airstrikes on a Buddhist monastery in Nyaung Oak village, Myaing township. – Reporting by Ben
